The man suspected in the fatal stabbing of a 42-year-old woman outside a Vancouver apartment complex earlier this month has died after being hospitalized for self-inflicted stab wounds, police said Monday.

Witnesses reported that the man had stabbed himself after stabbing Dolores Jones on July 7 in the 1000 block of Southeast 160th Avenue, Vancouver police said.

Jones died at the scene from multiple stab wounds in the torso and her suspected attacker was taken to a hospital, authorities said. Police said the two knew each other.

Police declined to release the man’s name, citing the Clark County Medical Examiner’s Office pending report.
