Vallejo’s walk-off knock lifts W.F. West over Shelton

Carlos Vallejo was the hero for the W.F. West baseball team on Wednesday, when he hit a two-run walk-off single to give the Bearcats a 4-3 win over Shelton.

W.F. West trailed 1-0, 2-1, and 3-2, but tied the game twice before Vallejo’s winning hit in the bottom of the seventh.

Alex Stafford hit a solo home run in the second to tie the game at one, and Beckman Dvorak hit an RBI single in the fourth to tie things up at two.

Hayden Rooney pitched the first five innings, allowing three hits and two earned runs while striking out six, and Emmett Goodman and Grady Westlund combined to pitch the final two innings.

W.F. West (15-2, 10-1 2A EvCo) will be at home again on Friday to host Black Hills.
