Two doctors, one in Lewis County and one in Thurston County, are among those who can no longer practice medicine on direction from the Washington Medical Commission, according to a series of news releases from the commission last week.
Bryan James Nestor, a physician who practiced at the Washington Orthopaedic Center on Cooks Hill Road in Centralia, voluntarily surrendered his license.
This comes after Nestor was indefinitely suspended in June 2022 due to safety risks caused by alleged behavior stemming from “unprofessional conduct,” according to the Washington Medical Commission. According to other documents from the commission, Nestor planned to retire following his initial suspension in June.
Bernard Neil Mullen, a physician who practiced at Providence St. Peter Hospital in Olympia, had his license indefinitely suspended.
This came after his previous license expired and Mullen underwent a multi-disciplinary evaluation with Acumen Assessments in Lawrence, Kansas, under orders from the Washington Medical Commission.
According to the commission’s statement of allegations, Acumen staff concluded Mullen was no longer fit to practice medicine following their evaluation due to diagnoses of mild sedative, hypnotic or anxiolytic use disorder, mild alcohol use disorder and narcissistic personality disorder.
