The Twin City Wrestling Club sent several members to the Washington State Wrestling Association State Folkstyle Wrestling Tournament on Sunday in Tacoma, and Jackson Coleman and Luke Vizgaudis went undefeated and claimed state championships.
Coleman (6U 53-55) won via tech fall in each of his first two matches before pinning his opponent in the final, and Vizgaudis (8U 53) went a perfect 5-0, including a win by major decision in the championship bout.
Fourteen other Mat Cats placed in the top eight of their respective divisions, including Berkeley Varick (High School Girls 120), who finished second.
Khai Davis (8U 40), Colt Miller (8U 56), Ophilea Cortes (Girls K-2 79-86), Nikita Nommensen (Girls K-2 116-127), and Elijiah Day (Junior 157) took third, while Kash Davis (10U 59), Emberly Sharp (Girls K-2 42-45), and Isabella Nelson (Girls K-2 50-53) placed fourth.
Dylan Matthews (Junior 157) placed fifth, Yalmai Houk (8U 40) and Nicholas Schultz (12U 108) took seventh, and Kaiden Coates (14U 140) and Anna Porter (Girls 6-8 81) finished eighth.
Next up for Twin City is the Freestyle/Greco season. Practice will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on March 4 in the W.F. Wrestling room, and a USAW card is required at practice.
