The weather couldn’t have been more perfect for the start, and the end was as thrilling and exciting as one could hope for.
Twin Cities Lacrosse, in just its second game ever, grabbed a 9-8 overtime win over Peninsula in its first-ever home game at Tiger Stadium in Centralia Saturday in front of a crowd of pleased parents.
“It was awesome,” Twin Cities Lacrosse founder and coach Brad Coulter said. “Really excited for the kids and parents. It will give them something to remember forever.”
The team, made up of third and fourth graders, is part of an organization that was formed in 2020 by Coulter, Ryan Brumbaugh, Anthony Smith and Riley Wood. It’s the first-ever youth lacrosse program in Lewis County, and 15 kids showed up for the opening clinic on Nov. 12, 2020.
Now, just three games in, the team is 2-1 after defeating Kitsap, 12-5, in their inaugural game on May 1.
On Saturday, against Peninsula, Owen Caldwell led Twin Cities with three goals and two assists, while Easton Buck scored twice and dished out one assist.
Gavin Spencer also notched two goals and Leo Gorman and Sawyer Duncan each scored once to propel Twin Cities to victory.
“It’s been really cool,” Coulter said. “It’s been fun. They’ve gotten so much better in a short span. You can see them improving each week.”
Twin Cities Lacrosse gets back into action at Puyallup Saturday morning, then at home against Gig Harbor at 1:30 p.m. Saturday.
