The Tumwater boys basketball team got hot from long range and found its defensive stride late Thursday, beating 3A Capital 67-58 on Thursday.

The Cougars led narrowly after the first quarter and by a point at the break, but the T-Birds held their guests to 25 second-half points, holding them still to pull away.

On the other end of the floor, Tumwater finished a shade above 50 percent from long range, going 13 for 25 on 3-pointers.

Luke Brewer had six of those threes, racking up 24 points. Nineteen of those came in the second half.

Andrew Collins added 22 points, five rebounds, and five steals. Luke Reid went 3 for 5 on 3-pointers for nine points and also dished out five assists. Inside, Gunnar Harroun had six rebounds.

Tumwater will get the weekend off, and take on Timberline in a non-league game Tuesday.
