The Pe Ell boys basketball team sent off seniors Michael Morales, Jesse Zard, Wyatt Marrs, and Joseph Krafczyk the best way it could Saturday night, defeating North River, 68-20, in their final home game this season.
The Trojans got out ahead and ran early on, going ahead 23-2 in the first quarter before cruising to the finish.
“We got out in transition early,” Trojans coach Chris Phelps said. “Our goal was to get easy buckets and we did. Those seniors came out with a unique intensity. The guys rallied around them and we had some of our best execution of the season.”
Junior Kail Homan led Pe Ell with a game-high 19 points, while Jesse Zard scored 13 and Morales dropped 10 to round out double-digit scorers. Fellow seniors Marrs (8 points) and Krafczyk (2 points) also scored in their home finales.
The Trojans will take on rival Willapa Valley on the road Wednesday for their next game.
