Pe Ell’s first win of the season came in its biggest moment as the Trojans swept Oakville (25-10, 25-18, 25-15) during the play-in round of the 1B District IV Volleyball Tournament on Monday in Oakville.

“It was our biggest game and the girls still didn’t play to our level,” Pe Ell coach Hollie Briggs said.

The Trojans, who entered the match winless on the season at 0-10, were led by Kennedy Kephart’s nine assists on 22 sets, along with Taylor Briggs’ Abby Cox’s and Allie Engle’s team-high five kills a peice. Cox and Sadie Howard were also 10-for-11 serving on the night, while Howard, Ava Bush and Payton Peterson were all praised by Briggs for their excellent coverage and passing on the night.

“It was hard for our girls to play fast-paced on our side, while it was slow-paced on their side,” Briggs said. “We did have a lot of assists.”

Pe Ell (1-10) advances to round one of the district tournament where it will face top-seede Mossyrock (12-1) at 6 p.m., Tuesday, at Oakville High School in a loser-out match.
