Trojans Come Back to Beat Eagles

The Pe Ell boys basketball team bounced back into the win column Thursday night, coming from behind to edge out Firm Foundation 44-39.

“I am very pleased with the execution of our young men,” Pe Ell coach Chris Phelps said. “All week we have been making adjustments offensively and we executed wonderfully.”

The Trojans trailed 25-22 at halftime but came back to overcome the small deficit by the end of the third quarter. A tough time shooting in the fourth kept Pe Ell from pulling away, but Kail Homan scored six of his team-high 13 points in the clutch.

Behind Homan, Carter Phelps scored 10 points on 5-of-7 shooting — he was the only Trojan to finish about 50 percent from the floor — and Logan Baldwin had 10 of his own.

“Even though we only shot 32 percent, we were getting great looks,” Chris Phelps said. “Once we figure out how to finish we will be in good shape.”

Pe Ell (2-3, 2-1 1B CVL) will host South Bend next Monday.
