Torrey Scores 33, Mossyrock Blows Out Naselle

The Mossyrock girls basketball team left no doubt on the court in Pacific County on Friday, blowing out rival Naselle 89-54 in a 1B Columbia Valley League matchup that only got uglier as the night went on.

The Vikings led by 10 points at halftime, then proceeded to drop 32 in the third quarter and 52 in the second half, leaving their hosts shell shocked in the dust.

“The girls came out at half time and made the adjustments shooting and forced a lot of turnovers in our half-court defense,” Mossyrock coach Autumn Moorcroft said.

Mossyrock’s seniors led the charge. Payton Torrey went to another level, surpassing 30 points for the first time this winter and finishing with 33. She also logged a team-high 13 rebounds for the double-double, came away with eight steals, and dished out six assists.

Hailey Brooks had a big night as well, going for 22 points, and Caelyn Marshall posted 16 points and six steals.

Mossyrock will get a non-league contest Monday, on the road at Onalaska.
