Three days after getting shellacked against a Class 4A program, W.F. West High School sophomore Taylor Tobin tossed a complete game in the circle to lead the Bearcats over Yelm 9-3 on the road on Monday night.
The only trouble the right-hander ran into was a three-run third in a downpour that saw a 4-0 cushion trim to one. Tobin proceeded to toss four scoreless innings and finish with eight strikeouts.
“She was pretty much in total control,” W.F. West head coach Kevin Zylstra said. “The fact she wanted the ball made me really happy. She took it personally against Camas; she was not going to let that happen again.”
Despite two outs in the top of the first, Kenley Fragner notched an RBI single and Avalon Myers scored on an errant throw. Gracie Elam capped the four-run frame with a two-run double. Freshman Rayah Middleton notched a two-run single. Tanner Tobin, Myers and Karlee Coleman all scored twice for the Bearcats.
They will conclude a short two-game road trip on Tuesday against Kelso.
