Titans Swept During Road Twinbill in Ilwaco

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley made the long trip to Ilwaco but wasn’t able to keep the Fishermen away from home plate as the Titans took a doubleheader sweep to their 2B Pacific League foes on Tuesday.

In Game 1, the Titans out-hit Ilwaco, 8-6, but the Fishermen made the most of theirs and took advantage of eight walks to deliver a 7-4 loss to the Titans.

Titan pitchers Hudson Barnum and Keeton combined to allow just three earned runs, but the Titans were hampered by three errors. Barnum punched out five batters in two innings with two earned runs. Keeton fanned three with one earned run in four innings.

Offensively, Keeton led the way, going 3 for 4 with a run and an RBI. Barnum (1-4), Blake Howard (1-3) and Wil Clements (1-2) all scored runs as well. Derek Fluke and Kaden Ritzman both collected a hit each.

Game 2 was even rougher as the Titans fell behind 10-6 through two innings before the Fishermen exploded for eight runs in the seventh inning to hand PWV a 20-7 defeat.

The Titans used four arms to try and stay in it with Riley Pearson going four innings with two strikeouts and five earned runs on three hits and four walks. Barnum surrendered four earned runs, Wil Clements gave up seven earned runs in an inning of work and Kannyon Clements tossed two scoreless innings with two Ks.

Barnum spearheaded the offense by going 3 for 5 with three runs and two RBIs, while Keeton went 2 for 3 with two runs and Ritzman was 2 for 4 with two RBIs.

Pe Ell-Willapa Valley drops to 6-3 overall and will host Winlock in a non-league matchup at 4 p.m. on Friday.
