Titans Split Doubleheader in Forks

Posted

Making the long drive north up the coast, the Pe Ell-Willapa Valley softball team lost its first game against Forks in a walk-off, 4-3, but responded with a second game win for the split, 10-8, Wednesday evening in Twilight Town.

The Titans got off to a good start in the opening game, scoring two runs in the first inning and adding an insurance run in the fourth, but the Spartans picked up steam in the later innings to tie it heading into the seventh.

After PWV failed to put a run across in the top of the inning, the Spartans slapped a couple base hits to walk it off, 4-3.

Lauren Emery pitched a complete game with 10 strikeouts and just one walk, and Payton Peterson and Grace Huber each went 2 for 3 with a run scored at the plate.

In the second game, the Titans again got off to a hot start, scoring eight runs in the opening innings to take a lead before Forks again began to crawl back.

This time around, the Titans did enough to hold on for the win, 10-8, to force the twin bill split.

Peterson again starred at the plate, going 3 for 4 with two runs scored and a pair of RBIs, Jillian Hodel went 3 for 4 with two runs, and leadoff Lauren Matlock went 3 for 4 with a pair of runs scored.

The Titans will get an extended break, taking on 2A Rochester in their next game on April 10.
