After a tough stretch of games, the Morton-White Pass girls basketball team rallied after a first quarter deficit to pull ahead by half, and hang on for a 49-45 win over Kalama on the road Tuesday night.

The Timberwolves shot 28 free throws, getting to the cup and getting the Chinooks into foul trouble to get the upperhand in the middle quarters.

“It was good to get back into the win column,” MWP coach Curt Atkinson said. “We did a pretty decent job of shooting the ball better than we have.”

The Armstrongs led the way for the T-Wolves, with Natalia scoring 13 points and Malia adding another 11. Keira Miller had another near double-double with nine points and 10 rebounds, as well.

“It was a good one to show our girls that we can persevere through some adversity and get a win,” Atkinson said.
