Timberwolves Hold Off Ravens

A barrage of scores in the second quarter, and nearly a three score lead, wasn’t enough to coast to a victory for Morton-White Pass Friday night against Raymond-South Bend.

Though the Timberwolves held on to a 30-14 lead at the half, a late rally and two touchdowns in the third quarter from the Ravens saw that lead disappear in the blink of an eye. Heading into the fourth quarter, MWP led by just three looking to just hold on for the win.

After quarterback Bleu Aron found Hunter Hazen for a score in the fourth, it was finally enough to hold off the Ravens for a 36-27 Timberwolves win.

“It felt good to get the win,” MWP coach Lee Metcalf said. “We made a few adjustments on defense and got stops when it mattered in the fourth.”

Playing without a couple of starters, the Timberwolves moved lots of players around, and junior Carter Dantinne took advantage of the opportunity. The junior had 17 carries for 82 yards and three total touchdowns in the win. Hazen, who caught both of MWP’s receiving touchdowns, had two catches for 110 yards.

The Timberwolves also capitalized on turnovers, recovering three fumbles and turning two of those into touchdowns.

MWP will play at Forks next Friday looking to improve upon their 4-2, and 2-1 league record.
