Napavine got the better of Toledo in a C2BL clash on Thursday, as the Tigers topped the Riverhawks 57-40 to stay perfect in league play.
The Tigers led by seven after one and by 14 at the break, and the Riverhawks couldn’t dig out of the early hole in the second half.
Karsen Denault led Napavine with 19 points and 16 rebounds, while Beckett Landram added 11 points. Hudson Chambers added 10 points, and Grady Wilson scored five.
Cal Bullock, Matthew Watson, and Jack Nelson each added four, while Bullock also logged five steals and three assists and Nelson hauled in seven rebounds.
Tyce Vigre led the Riverhawks with 13 points and seven rebounds, while Eli Weeks added 12 points. Cooper Fallon was held to just seven points, but he did have 22 rebounds and seven blocks in the paint.
“We were kind of on our heels all night,” Toledo coach Grady Fallon said. “We couldn’t really get into a rhythm.”
The Riverhawks didn’t help themselves offensively, turning the ball over 24 times. Napavine scored 21 points off of those turnovers.
“That plagued us last year,” Grady Fallon said. “We’ve been inching that down … But only scoring 40 and turning it over 24 times, that’s a bad combo no matter who you’re playing.”
Toledo (10-2, 6-2 C2BL) will look to bounce back in White Pass against Morton-White Pass on Tuesday, while Napavine (9-1, 7-0 C2BL) will head to Adna for a matchup between the last two remaining teams unbeaten in league play.
