The Centralia boy’s golf team won its first head-to-head match of the season, topping Black Hills by nine strokes at Tumwater Valley Golf Course, 236-245.

Brady Sprague posted the best score of the day for the Tigers, scoring a 45. Tyler Fagerness shot a 46, Colby Christensen and Tucker Weaver both posted a 47, and Jake Johnson shot a 51.

“It was a good win for us,” Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said. “Four kids in the 40s … that’s what we need to do if we’re gonna win matches.”

For Black Hills, Jack Caster posted the best score of the day across both teams, shooting a 39. Simon Nysted was the only other Wolf to shoot under 50, posting a 46. Ezra Harris shot a 50, Jace Cedargreen notched a 54, and Ethan Badger recorded a 56.

The Tigers are back on the course on Thursday, again at Tumwater Valley to take on Tumwater, and the Wolves are back next Wednesday, Sept. 20 at Highland Golf Course to face Aberdeen.
