Tigers Rout Knights to Round Out 2022

Playing in its last game before the New Year, the 2B No. 7 Napavine girls basketball team came in laser-focused and easily dispatched 1A King’s Way Christian Friday afternoon, 65-15, in a non-league contest.

The Tigers defense was the star, holding the Knights to single-digit scoring in every quarter and just six points at the halftime break. That defense, in part, led to another successful day on the other end of the floor as well.

“I was really proud of our kids today,” Napavine coach Shane Schutz said. “They came out ready to play and with something to prove. Our defense was really good, we won every quarter. Our kids were really focused on our execution on offense and defense. Hayden (Kaut), Morgan (Hamilton), and Keira (O’Neill) found different ways to score all day.”

Kaut and Hamilton co-led the Tigers in points, with both players outscoring the Knights by themselves with 17 points. O’Neill was also in double figures with 12 points, and eight total Tigers found a way to score in a balanced effort.

The Tigers will punch up a couple classifications when they take on 2A No. 8 Tumwater after the New Year, Tuesday at 7 p.m.
