Tigers earn first win of season

The Centralia girls basketball team snapped a 22-game losing streak Wednesday, beating 3A Mount Tahoma 40-33 on the road.

The Tigers (1-6) only scored three points in the first quarter and trailed by six at halftime, but took control of the game with an 18-10 third quarter and sealed things with a 9-4 run in the fourth.

Brooklyn Sprague led all scorers with 17 points, while Payton Baumel and Gracie Schofield both scored eight.

Centralia will return home to host the second annual Tiger Classic this weekend. The Tigers will face Lakes on Thursday, Fife on Friday and Yelm on Saturday.
