Tigers Drop Tight Match With Highclimbers

In its final home dual match of the season, the Centralia boys wrestling team fell to Shelton on senior night, 48-30.

The Tigers again suffered too many lineup forfeits to overcome, with three going the way of the Highclimbers Wednesday night.

Despite that, the Tigers had another solid showing on the mats, with Eddie Mojica (220), Antonio Garcia (126), and Antonio Campos (132) all winning by fall. Izaiha Marquez (170) and John Mason (120) each won by forfeit for the Tigers, as well.

“Our guys competed well tonight,” Tigers coach Scott Phillips said. “We have mostly first and second year wrestlers in our lineup … Last year at this time we would have only filled two weights out of 14. So we have made drastic improvement. We are proud of our guys for working so hard to improve.”

Winners for the Highclimbers settled on the mat included Cameron Huisingh (160), Jackson Wolf (182), Mario Boxley (195), Daniel Tausa (285), Logan Peach (138), and Caleb Brennan (145).

The Tigers will next head to sub-regionals — otherwise known as the 2A Evergreen Conference championships — next Saturday.
