Tigers Drop First League Game to Ducks

Taking the trek south to Toutle for a big Central 2B League matchup, the Napavine boys basketball team dropped its first league contest of the season to Toutle Lake Saturday night, 78-72.

The Tigers dealt with foul trouble all night, with big Karsen Denault fouling out in 11 minutes, and the Ducks earning 22 free throws over the night.

Ducks guard Zach Swanson scored a game-high 37 points, with 11 of those coming from the line. Swanson also shot 12 of 19 from the floor in an efficient performance.

Napavine was led by the scoring of James Grose, who scored 27 points with seven rebounds. Jarin Prather shot an efficient 7 of 11 from the floor for 21 points, making six 3-pointers in a losing effort.

Despite the loss, the Tigers still have a shot at a league title and a first round bye in the district tournament in a few weeks, with a home matchup against league-leading Morton-White Pass this week and just one league loss on the season thus far.
