Tigers Dominate Chinooks After Crushing First Half

Taking a 44-4 halftime lead and riding it all the way to a 61-23 victory Friday night, the Napavine girls basketball team had no trouble picking up a league win against Kalama at home.

The Tigers had a well-rounded scoring effort, but were led by senior Morgan Hamilton’s 24 points on 11 of 17 shooting from the field.

“I thought we had a really good first half of basketball,” Tigers coach Shane Schutz said. “Morgan Hamilton had a good floor game and scored a lot in transition. The last couple of games, Avery (Schutz) and Taylen (Evander) have done a great job as our point guards getting us into our offense. I was really proud of them.”

Keira O’Neill had four points to go along with a team-high nine rebounds, and Avery Schutz and Evander led the Tigers effort in recording 16 assists as a team with just 13 total team turnovers.

The Tigers held the Chinooks to just one made shot in the first half, leading to a 40-point lead at the break.

Hayden Kaut chipped in 13 points to round out double figure scorers.

The Tigers head to Brewster to play Manson first next Wednesday for non-league hoop action.
