The Centralia girls basketball team couldn’t quite pull out the win on the road Wednesday, returning to 2A EvCo play with a 46-43 loss at Shelton.

The Tigers (1-11, 0-7) fell in a four-point hole by the end of the first quarter but had erased the gap by halftime. Centralia struggled offensively out of the break, though, managing just five points in the third quarter, and while it held its host to just eight, that three-point difference ended up being what decided the game.

Makayla Chavez led the Tigers with 14 points, and Payton Baumel had 10. Brooklyn Sprague and Gracie Schofield both scored seven apiece, the latter hitting two of Centralia’s four 3-pointers.

The Tigers will host W.F. West in the 99th edition of the girls basketball Swamp Cup on Friday.
