Tigers Cap Off Season With Victory Over Warriors

END OF THE ROAD: Joslin Corona’s Goal Pushes Centralia Past Rochester in Season Finale

Centralia freshman Joslin Corona knocked in a goal in the 60th minute to help the Tigers to a 1-0 victory over visiting Rochester in both team’s season-finale on Tuesday at Tiger Stadium.
Before the game, Centralia coach Henry Gallanger told his team that the only way to come out on top is if everyone contributed.

“And everyone played, contributed and worked hard,” Gallanger said. “It was a good way to end the regular season.”

Neither the Tigers (2-14, 2-10 league) or Warriors (1-14, 1-11 league) qualified for the postseason. The Tigers’ varsity will play against Tumwater’s junior varsity on Thursday.

It was senior night for the Warriors as well, with five seniors ending their high school careers: Lucy Nowicki, Annabelle Lewis, Riley Babka, Hannah Robbins and Magi Corona.

“They worked hard to continue this program in positive ways,” Gallanger said. “Where they started and where they’re at now, their confidence level is higher. When you play for Centralia, you get better at trying. They don’t know how to quit. That will serve them beyond high school.”
