Tigers Bounce Back to Sweep Mules at Home

Putting a loss to Kalama earlier this week far behind it, the Napavine volleyball team swept Wahkiakum in straight sets Thursday at home, 25-14, 25-22, 25-14.

Emily Kang dug up 11 balls in the back row, and was helped by the solid defensive play of Grace Gall, who was also aggressive at the net leading to points.

Keira O’Neill added eight kills, two block kills and eight aces, and Morgan Hamilton earned six kills with 11 digs on the night.

After playing loose and free in the first set to their benefit, the Tigers played a little too loosely in a second set that led to some mistakes, and the Mules making a run.

“We talked in the huddle about needing to not cat and mouse somebody,” Tigers coach Monica Dailey said. “When you do, the mouse gets away. We needed to finish strong and get the job done, and we did.”

The Tigers (3-1) flipped the switch and won the third set decisively, ahead of a big rivalry match against Adna next Tuesday at home.
