NAPAVINE — In its return to the court this fall, the Napavine volleyball team announced itself to the new season with a dominant sweep over Onalaska Tuesday night (25-6, 25-9, 25-18).

The Tigers (1-0) had a rounded out offensive effort, with four players recording at least five aces Tuesday night. Avery Schutz had a team-high eight aces, Grace Gall and Emily Kang added six a piece, and Keira O’Neill had five.

O’Neill also finished tied for the team-high in kills with six, along with Morgan Hamilton, who also had five digs.

Hamilton, the lone senior for the Tigers this season, has provided a much-needed aggressive force at the net on a team with renewed confidence this season.

“They’re a year older,” Tigers coach Monica Dailey said. “Last year I only had eighth graders, freshmen, and sophomores, and now we’re very junior-heavy. They felt like they’d have a lot of opportunities, so they want to take advantage of them the best they can this year.”

Kang and O’Neill added perfect serving nights for the Tigers, and Jessie McCoy hit her spots on serves and dished out nine assists.

Napavine will play Kalama next on Tuesday night week, while the Loggers look to get a win at Wahkiakum.
