Thurston County is working to reduce landfill waste by offering book donation bins through public-private partnerships.
The bins, placed at county solid waste facilities, provide a simple way for the public to donate books for reuse.
Organizations interested in partnering with the county must meet certain requirements, such as:
• Providing and maintaining weatherproof donation bins at county locations
• Insuring all donation bins and keeping them clean and free from vandalism
• Offering a regular pickup service for all bins
• Being clear about the final use of the donated materials and providing supporting data
• Signing an agreement with the county
Preference will be given to local nonprofits.
Organizations can apply by emailing the completed form to ThurstonSolidWaste@co.thurston.wa.us by Friday, Feb. 28, at 5 p.m.
The best-fit organization will be selected for a partnership, with an agreement lasting up to five years. For more information, visit https://tinyurl.com/t3c26puh or email ThurstonSolidWaste@co.thurston.wa.us.
