Thurston County reported a slight decrease in COVID-19 cases as the health department tallied 654 new cases, but tallied 11 deaths during the period of June 13 through June 19.
The deaths included a man in his 50s, a man in his 60s, three women in their 70s, three men and two women in their 80s, and a woman over 100 years old.
The prior week there were 702 COVID-19 cases and one death reported between June 6 and June 12.
Out of the 51,296 total county cases reported by June 20, patients who have recovered or are recovering increased to 49,975, according to the county health department.
As of June 20, the county health department reported a total of 2,410 COVID-related hospitalizations and 395 deaths in Thurston County since the start of the pandemic.
Health care workers have vaccinated 66% of the population countywide since the beginning of the pandemic, according to DOH.
In neighboring Pierce County, deaths per 100,000 population couldn’t be calculated because less than 10 people died, and new cases were down to 228.2 per 100,000 population as of June 21, according to the Tacoma-Pierce County Health Department.
The total number of cases in the county reached 209,634 as of June 21, with 1,433 deaths, according to DOH.
In Washington state, as of June 21, there were 1,628,383 total confirmed cases of COVID-19, a total of 63,991 people have been hospitalized because of the illness, and 13,115 people have died, according to DOH.
Over 14 million vaccine doses have been administered in the state.
Nationwide, as of June 13, there were 85,921,461 total cases since the start of the pandemic. There were 1,008,196 confirmed deaths and 83% of Americans 5 years old and up have at least one of the vaccinations, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
New cases over the last 30 days have been on a slow downwards trajectory, while new deaths over the last 30 days have also decreased, CDC graphs indicated.
