Thurston County Homicide Victim Identified as Chehalis Man

A 37-year-old Chehalis man has been identified as the victim of an apparent homicide, according to the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office. 

The body of Jose Alejo Tamayo was found on the side of the road on 12th Avenue Northeast near Olympia Sunday morning, the sheriff’s office reported in a press release. 

“Any loss of life is tragic and the members of the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office extend our condolences to the family of Mr. Alejo Tamayo,” the sheriff’s office wrote in the press release. 

Tamayo’s body was discovered by a jogger at about 7:50 a.m. Sunday. 



Deputies responded and confirmed Tamayo died as a result of a gunshot wound, according to the sheriff’s office. 

“Detectives thoroughly documented the scene, made notification to the victim’s family and are currently working to follow up on any available leads,” according to the press release.
