Thurston County Government Offices Set to Move From Courthouse to The Atrium Beginning Next Week

Offices and departments of Thurston County government are set to start moving from the Courthouse Complex, located at 2000 Lakeridge Drive SW, to The Atrium, located at 3000 Pacific Ave. in Olympia.

Office and department moves will be staggered during a five-week period. The move is set to take place starting on Nov. 8. As the offices are relocated, they will temporarily not be available for in-person services, but online and telephone services will still be available.

“We understand this may cause disruptions for those seeking county services during the move, we just ask that you please be patient with staff as we move through this process and get back to serving the public as quickly and efficiently as possible,” stated Thurston County Manager Ramiro Chavez in a news release.

Offices and departments will prepare to move the last two working days of the week and will unpack the following Monday and be open at The Atrium on Tuesday. According to the release, the move will not affect voter services or the election.

The last day the information technology, human resources and geodata departments will be open at the courthouse is Nov. 8 and the first day they will be reopened to the public at The Atrium is Nov. 15.



The last day the central services department and the board of county commissioners will be open at the courthouse is Nov. 16 and the first day they will be reopened to the public at The Atrium is Nov. 22.

The last day the auditor and treasurer offices will be open at the courthouse is Nov. 21 and the first day they will be reopened to the public at The Atrium is Nov. 29.

The last day the assessor’s office and the board of equalization will be open at the courthouse is Nov. 30 and the first day they will be reopened to the public at The Atrium is Dec. 6.

The last day the community planning and economic development and environmental health departments will open at the courthouse is Dec. 7 and the first day they will be reopened to the public at The Atrium is Dec. 13.

Despite the move, the board of county commissioners public meetings will continue to be held at the Courthouse Complex through the rest of the year. Starting in January, the meetings will be held at The Atrium.
