Thurston County Asking for Public Input on Proposed Building Regulations in Gopher Habitat

Posted

Thurston County officials are asking the public to provide input on proposed building regulation and permitting changes revolving around construction in unincorporated areas that overlap with Mazama pocket gopher habitat.

The comment period is open through Oct. 4, when Thurston County commissioners will host a public hearing on the draft ordinance starting at 3:30 p.m. at the Thurston County Courthouse.

Should it pass, the ordinance will amend the Habitat Conservation Plan (HPC) regulations that were approved back in July by federal regulators and the U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service.

The draft HPC ordinance can be reviewed online at https://bit.ly/3qoL1Cv.
