Thunderbirds Throttle Wolves in Rivalry Match

Tumwater junior Luke Brewer led all scorers with 25 points and the Thunderbirds took down rival Black Hills, 65-44, Friday in a 2A Evergreen Conference contest at Black Hills High School.

Tumwater jumped out to a 15-9 lead and fended off the Wolves down the stretch, aided by three players in double-digit scoring

Brewer shot 7 of 12 (58%) on the night, including a red-hot 4 of 6 (67%) from long range, and added two assists and two rebounds.

Adam Overbay contributed 13 points on 6 of 8 shooting (75%) and a team-high seven rebounds, while Andrew Collins chipped in 10 points, four assists and four steals.

Black Hills was led by guard Johnnie Stallings’ 18 points.

Tumwater heads to Shelton for another EvCo matchup on Tuesday. Black Hills hosts Class 2B Napavine on Monday in a non-league game.
