Black Hills had a late home run to cut its deficit to one but Tumwater was able to fend off the Wolves in the final inning for a 4-3 victory in 2A Evergreen Conference action Friday at Tumwater High School.

It was tight throughout as the two squads each scored a run a piece in the third inning. But it was the fourth where the Thunderbirds pulled ahead for good, plating three runs behind RBIs from Blake Smith, Graysen Reveal and Derek Thompson.

The Wolves weren’t done yet either as Asher Shortland sent a two-run homer over the right field fence to cut their deficit to 4-3. But the T-Birds were able to close out the seventh to secure the win.

Brayden Oram led the Thunderbirds at the plate, going 2 for 3 with an RBI. Reveal was 1 for 2 with an RBI and Alex Overbay, Smith, Eddie Marson and Jack Worgum all scored runs.

Jordan Hansen tossed five scoreless innings for Tumwater, striking out nine while allowing four hits and three walks. Overbay threw two scoreless innings, striking out three with two hits and a walk.

Black Hills was led offensively by Shortland, who went 2 for 4 with two RBIs and two runs. Parker Termini was also 2 for 4 with a run and Blake Klinger went 2 for 3 with a run.

Hunter Faught threw four innings for the Wolves, surrendering three earned runs on six hits and two walks with one punchout.
