Thunderbirds Complete Season Sweep of Bearcats

Tumwater baseball capped off its season sweep of league rival W.F. West with a 7-1 victory over the Bearcats in a non-league match at home on Friday.

A trio of Thunderbird pitchers combined to hold the Bearcats’ offense to just four hits on the day. Alex Overbay tossed the first three innings, striking out two while allowing one earned run on three hits and two walks.

Brayden Oram went 3 ⅓ scoreless innings of relief, striking out five while allowing one hit and two walks. Trenton Gaither threw ⅔ of an inning with no hits, one K and one walk.

Eddie Marson led the T-Birds’ offense, going 3 for 3 with two runs and an RBI. Blake Smith was 2 for 4 with a run and an RBI, while Ryan Orr scored twice on 1 of 2 hitting with a walk.

W.F. West used six pitchers, starting with Braden Jones throwing the first two innings, allowing no hits and no walks with two Ks. Brock Bunker and Gavin Fugate each tossed an inning of relief, with both allowing two earned runs and striking out one.

Fugate was 2 for 3 at the plate, driving in a run and walking once. Jones was 1 for 3 and Bunker was 1 for 3 with a run.

W.F. West heads to Black Hills for a matchup on Tuesday. Tumwater hosts Centralia on Monday.
