Thirteen local prep golfers have qualified for Day 2 of the 2A District 4 Boys Golf Tournament after a surprisingly rainless Day 1 at the Riverside Golf Course in Chehalis on Wednesday.

Centralia sophomore Von Wasson is the top local golfer after Day 1, carding a 75, and sits in fourth place. Woodland junior Dane Huddleston is currently in the lead with a 3-under par 68.

"Von played well and hopefully he played well again," Centralia coach Hal Gronseth said.

Also qualifying for Day 2 was Centralia junior Cole Wasson, who is in 10th (82).

Moving on for W.F. West is freshman Ben Halverstadt, who is in sixth place (76), Tukker Rosbach is in 24th (89), Brock Bunker is in 29th (91) and Dirk Plakinger is in 37th  (93).

Tumwater golfers advancing are Kaden Clark, who is in ninth (81), Reagan Broome is in 18th (86), Nolan Campbell and Gabe Johnston tied for 26th (90) and Will Arthur is in 40th (94).

Black Hills golfers heading to Day 2 are Luke Fenner, who is in 24th (89), and Brandon Nguyen is in 33rd (92).

The top 45 golfers from Day 1 advanced to the finals on Day 2, which starts at 9 a.m., Thursday, at Riverside Golf Course.

State tournament allocations are still being decided, so golfers on Thursday will not know if they qualified for state until this spring, when the tournament is held. In past years, the top 17 from District 4 have qualified for state. This year, it could be as many as 20 to 25, Rochester coach Eric Holmkvist said.
