The Turkey Trot Returns on Thanksgiving Morning at Thorbeckes Wellness Center

Trotting a 5K is the perfect way to get the family active and outside before the labors of cooking and eating an enormous plate on Thanksgiving.

At 8 a.m. on Thursday, Nov. 25, Althauser Rayan Abbarno, LLP will host a 5K for families to walk, run, jog or trot, beginning at Thorbeckes Wellness Center, 91 SW Chehalis Ave., Chehalis.

Register for $20 at any Thorbeckes location. The cost for immediate families, regardless of the number of members, is $35 and comes with two shirts plus $8 per extra shirt.

Proceeds will go to the Chehalis Foundation and the Boys and Girls Club of Lewis County.

The Centralia law firm has been hosting the event for about five or six years now, Peter Abbarno told The Chronicle this week, though the event was hosted virtually in 2020.

He has been running on Thanksgiving since childhood, and was thrilled to bring the tradition along with him here.

“For me, it’s something I always look forward to, whether it was rain or shine or snow. It was something we could always do together as a family,” Abbarno said. “And to give back to the community and the nonprofits, it just means a lot.”
