An 18-year-old Oregon woman died in a single-vehicle crash on northbound Interstate 5 in Cowlitz County on Monday after her vehicle left the roadway and struck trees.
Breauna L. Vaughn, of Eagle Creek, was reportedly driving a blue 2005 Toyota 4Runner northbound on I-5 at a high rate of speed when, “for unknown reasons,” her vehicle “left the right side of the roadway and impacted the trees” at milepost 44 just north of Lexington, the Washington State Patrol stated in an incident report.
Vaughn was declared deceased at the scene, according to the state patrol.
Her next of kin have been notified.
Vaughn was not wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash, according to the incident report. The state patrol has determined drugs or alcohol were not involved.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation by the Washington State Patrol, according to the incident report.
