A crossover spot was on the line on Thursday in Mossyrock, and Morton-White Pass earned it with a 22-6 win over the Vikings.
The offenses played well early, as all four touchdowns were scored in the first half. As the weather worsened, however, the defenses tightened up.
Morton-White Pass coach Lee Metcalf said that both teams had trouble holding onto the ball, and at times had issues even executing snaps.
“We had three fumbles alone in the second half,” Metcalf said “That killed a lot of our drives.”
Judah Kelly had an excellent night on the ground, rushing for 170 yards and two touchdowns, and it would have been even better if an 80-yard touchdown wasn’t wiped away by a penalty.
Logan Mays scored the other MWP touchdown, and Kyle Brockway ran in Mossyrock’s lone score of the night.
Brockway led the Vikings with 77 yards on the ground, and Cameron Kuberth added 55.
The Vikings got into the red zone in the third, but the Timberwolves made a goal-line stand to preserve its two-score lead.
With the win, MWP (5-4, 3-3 C2BL East) earned the fourth guaranteed crossover spot from the East, and the T-Wolves will head to Napavine for its crossover.
Mossyrock (2-7, 2-4 C2BL East) finishes fifth, and whether or not the Vikings make a crossover is dependent on their final rankings across multiple polls at the end of the week.
