The Morton-White Pass offense wasn’t humming all night Friday, but it came through when it needed to lift the T-Wolves to a 38-12 victory over Toutle Lake.
Samuel Sympson and Kohen Ingalsbe both scored in the first to put MWP up 16-6, but the Timberwolves didn’t score in either the second or third. When the fourth quarter started, they led by just four points.
The offense got going late though, as Judah Kelly scored twice to extend the lead before Noah Troy returned an interception for a touchdown to seal it.
“I think there was more of a sense of urgency in the fourth,” Morton-White Pass coach Lee Metcalf said. “They stepped up and finished them off, that was nice to see.”
Kelly’s pair of touchdowns capped a stellar night, one in which he ran for 231 yards on 23 carries.
“He just ran downhill,” Metcalf said. “We ran the ball hard, and it was effective … There were some holes there, and he made the most of those situations.”
Morton-White Pass (4-4, 2-3, C2BL East) enters the final week of the regular season tied with Mossyrock for the fourth and final automatic crossover spot out of the C2BL East. Those two teams will play for that spot next Thursday in Mossyrock.
“They always play us tough,” Metcalf said. “ It’s gonna be an interesting game. We’ll just keep plugging away and take it one week at a time.”
