T-Birds Score Pair of Runs Late to Get Past Wolves

Coming up with some timely hits in the later innings, the Tumwater baseball team defeated Black Hills Tuesday afternoon in its regular season finale, 6-4. 

The Thunderbirds finish their league season with just one blemish, and have captured the top overall seed from the 2A Evergreen Conference yet again heading into the District 4 playoffs. 

Trenton Gaither got the starting nod on the mound, pitching the first two innings and allowing three unearned runs to come across on two hits and a walk with five strikeouts. Ayden Ramsey pitched the next three innings, letting one run come across on two hits with three punchouts, and Liam Karlson pitched the final two innings, holding the Wolves scoreless with a strikeout and one hit allowed. 

At the plate, Landon Roy went 2 for 3 with an RBI knock, and Briar Finney had a triple and scored a run for the T-Birds.

The Wolves were led by Max Johnson’s strong day at the plate at leadoff, hitting a double and a home run to finish 2 for 3 with two runs scored and an RBI. 

Alec Lynch pitched the first 2 2/3 innings, allowing four runs, with one earned, on three hits and two walks with a strikeout. Orion Pate pitched the next 2 1/3, striking out one and allowing one run, and Parker Termini pitched the final three outs, allowing one unearned run to come across with two strikeouts. 

The Wolves season is over, while the Thunderbirds await their opponent in the first round of the 2A District 4 playoffs next Tuesday.
