T-Birds Run Wild to Beat Shelton

The Tumwater baseball team’s 2A EvCo opener may have gone a little closer than expected, but while the big innings never came, the Thunderbirds loaded the pressure on the Highclimbers on the bases to win 6-4.

Tumwater finished with six stolen bases and took advantage of four passed balls — three of which came with a runner on third base and brought a run home.

Kyler Collier did provide a big bop with his first home run of the year in the bottom of the third, and Brayden Oram went 1 for 3 with a double.

Alex Overbay earned the win on the hill, allowing two earned runs on two hits and four walks, and striking out eight. Ayden Ramsey came into a bases-loaded situation in the top of the fifth and got out of it with just one of his inherited runners scoring, then tossed two clean innings to see out the win.

Tumwater will get a shot at the sweep in Mason County on Wednesday.
