The Tumwater volleyball team came away with its third league sweep in a row Tuesday, taking down Rochester 25-11, 25-13, 25-17 in a 2A EvCo match.

The Thunderbirds served up 16 aces on the night, led by six from Brooklyn Hayes and three from Anna Waters. The Tumwater serve came up huge especially early, as the guests served up 11 points before Rochester put together a solid receive, according to Warrior coach Bridget Morris.

“Just not starting off great, so that didn’t help us for sure,” she said.

Maddie Hurley finished with a team-high 10 kills for Tumwater, while Bella Burney had nine to go along with three blocks. Emily Robello dished out 29 assists and led the back row with seven digs.

Lauren Rotter led Rochester with six digs; she and Delaney Winter both had four kills to lead the offense.

Rochester setter Kassidy Byrd, playing a larger role than normal with multiple other starters out or limited, had four digs, five assists, and a block.

“I really appreciated her stepping up tonight and playing all the way around, even though she’s normally a back-row player,” Morris said.

Rochester is set to face W.F. West in Chehalis on Thursday. Tumwater will ge a week off, then kick off the last week of the regular season at home against Centralia next Tuesday.
