T-Birds Beat Warriors in League Opener

Leading from start to finish, Tumwater won its league opener over Rochester, 69-9, Tuesday night. 

The Thunderbirds (3-0) got 20 points from Natalie Sumrok, 17 from Aubrey Amendala, 12 from Isabella Lund, and 10 from Kylie Waltermeyer to round out double-digit scorers against the Warriors. Spurred by a strong defensive performance, the T-Birds started league play off with a strong win. 

“The kids were bought in,” T-Birds coach Robin Johnson said. “We talked about doing the little things and improving and we did that tonight.” 

The Warriors were led by Sofie Sand, who scored five points, and Lauren Rotter, who finished with four points. 

The Thunderbirds will take on Aberdeen on the road next Tuesday for their next contest while the Warriors play Centralia on Thursday.
