T-Bird Bats Come Alive in Win Over Rochester

After a back-and-forth first five innings, the Tumwater softball team finally started putting bat to ball in the sixth inning, dropping eight runs to defeat Rochester, 14-4, Wednesday evening. 

The Thunderbirds got a 4 for 5 performance at the plate from Jaylen Latchaw, who also crushed in two RBIs and hit for two doubles. Aly Waltermeyer was 3 for 5 at the plate with 2 RBIs as well. Ella Ferguson pitched 5.1 innings of relief, striking out six and giving up just one earned run. 

For the Warriors, Sadie Knutson had a strong start, going 5.2 innings, but the T-Birds finally got after the Rochester ace in the sixth. Knutson had two walks and no strikeouts. 

Lakota Escott went a perfect 3 for 3 at the plate with an RBI and a double. 

The Thunderbirds will look to keep it rolling against Centralia next Thursday, while the Warriors take on Centralia on Friday this week.
