Toledo played electric defense and nine Riverhawks scored points in a 36-18 thumping of Class 1B Naselle at home Saturday in non-league play.
The Riverhawks, who have now won five straight, led by just two points after each of the first two quarters, taking a 13-11 lead going into the locker room in what was a defensive battle in the first half.
“We struggled in the first half and forced our shots,” Toledo coach Randy Wood said. “But we settled down after halftime and started scoring more. We figured out their zone.”
Toledo went on an 8-4 run in the third quarter to pull away for good, and then outscored the Comets 15-3 in the final frame for added emphasis.
Taylor Langhaim led the Riverhawks with a team-high nine points and nine rebounds. Greenlee Clark added seven points and Abbie Marcil finished with seven points and six rebounds.
Toledo (6-1) travels to Class 1A Tenino for a non-league matchup at 7 p.m. on Wednesday.
