Following some competitive district tournaments and a torrid start to the postseason, just six area schools remain in the hunt for a state championship with regional bids to the playoffs.

The opening round of the state playoffs will begin next weekend, with several area schools earning hosting privileges.

The full brackets are attached in the photo gallery above.

2A State Playoffs: No. 2 Tumwater and No. 3 W.F. West

After a thrilling 2A District 4 title game that saw the Bearcats avenge three losses to the Thunderbirds in the regular season, both teams were rewarded with top-3 seeds for the state playoffs.

Though if the Bearcats and T-Birds win their first two matchups they would meet up in the state semifinals for the second consecutive season.

The No. 2 T-Birds will open up the state playoffs close to home at Wheeler Field in Centralia as the top seed in its pod against No. 15 Grandview and would play the winner of No. 7 Mark Morris and No. 10 Archbishop Murphy in the quarterfinals with a win.

The No. 3 Bearcats open up against No. 14 Port Angeles, and will get to host it on their home field in Chehalis as the top seed in its regional pod. If W.F. West wins, it would play the winner of No. 11 Hudson’s Bay and No. 6 White River.

The 2A state semifinals and finals will be hosted at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham.

1A State Playoffs: No. 8 Tenino

Making its first appearance in the big dance since 2016, the Beavers won’t have to travel too far for their regional debut this postseason.

As the No. 8 seed, Tenino will take on No. 9 Bellevue Christian in the opening round at 10 a.m. on Saturday at Parker Field in Yakima in a loser-out game. If the Beavers win, they’ll take on either No. 1 Naches Valley or No. 16 King’s Way Christian in the quarterfinals.

League rival Montesano earned the No. 4 seed, and District 4 champ La Center was awarded the No. 2 seed.

The 1A state semifinals and finals are hosted at Joe Martin Stadium in Bellingham.

2B State Playoffs: No. 7 Toledo and No. 11 Adna

After playing one another for third in the 2B District 4 consolation rounds, the Riverhawks and Pirates will have to travel for the opening round of the state playoffs next weekend.

Though, Toledo won’t have to travel very far.

Put into No. 2 Toutle Lake’s pod, the Riverhawks will play No. 10 Coupeville in the first round at Castle Rock, and if they win, would play the Ducks later that day for a semifinal berth.

The Pirates will have to travel much further as the No. 11 seed to Shadle Park. No. 11 Adna will take on No. 6 Cle Elum-Roslyn in the opening round and would play Chewelah in the quarterfinals with a win.

The 2B state semifinals and finals are hosted at Johnson-O’Brien Stadium in Ephrata.

1B State Playoffs: No. 7 Mossyrock

Despite defeating No. 5 Naselle in the 1B District 4 championship, and owning a 2-1 record over the Comets this season, the Vikings were seeded two spots lower than their league rivals.

The district champ Vikings will take on No. 10 Orcas Island in the opening round on Saturday in Kamiakin. If Mossy can get a win, they’d take on No. 2 Liberty Christian for a spot in the semifinals later that day.

The 1B state semifinals and finals are hosted at Johnson-O’Brien Stadium in Ephrata.
