Duffy, Baker Help Blazers to Sweep of Clark

Centralia High School alum Sophie Duffy crushed a grand slam in her first college at-bat in Game 1 then Kylie Baker hit a walk-off in Game 2 to help Centralia College softball sweep Clark College at home on Saturday.

In Game 1, the Trailblazers took a 12-4 win in six innings, buoyed by Duffy going 1 for 3 with four RBIs and a run. Rochester alum Kiyah Kennedy was 3 for 4 with two runs and an RBI, and  Baker went 3 for 5 with an RBI.

Duffy also tossed four scoreless innings on the mound, striking out three while allowing three hits and two walks. Paige Bryant pitched the final two innings, allowing two earned runs on three hits and no walks while punching out one.

In Game 2, the Blazers fell into a 9-4 deficit entering the seventh inning. But the Blazers rallied back, scoring six runs in the bottom of the seventh, capped by Baker's walk-off single to give Centralia College a 10-9 win.



Baker led the offense, going 4 for 5 with three RBIs and a run. Adna alum Emma Eko was 3 for 4 with two RBIs and a run and Kennedy was 2 for 4 with an RBI and a run.

Bryan went 1.1 innings on the mound, allowing three earned runs on four hits and a walk. Kennedy tossed 5.2 innings, allowing four earned runs on seven hits and seven walks while striking out two.

Centralia College (9-14, 6-7 South Region) hosts league foe Lower Columbia on Tuesday in a doubleheader starting at 3 p.m.
