Sirens: Shot With Water Gun; Suspect Escapes After Pursuit; DUI Arrests

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Vehicle Accidents

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported at the intersection of Johnson Road and Reynolds Avenue just after 9:20 a.m. on June 24.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision was reported in the 800 block of Harrison Avenue at 2:50 p.m. on June 24.

• A motorcyclist was transported to the hospital with minor injuries at 1 p.m. on June 25 after they collided with a dog that ran out into the roadway in the 600 block of South Pearl Street, causing the motorcycle to crash.

 

Hit-and-Run

• A light brown mini-van reportedly struck another vehicle in the 600 block of South Gold Street just after 11:10 a.m. on June 24 and fled the scene.

• A hit-and-run collision involving four vehicles was reported at the intersection of North Pearl Street and Fremont Avenue at approximately 5:50 p.m. on June 26. The suspect vehicle was described as a burgundy Mustang being driven by “a male with an afro hair style.” The vehicle was located by Tenino police, but the vehicle fled and Tenino police terminated the pursuit due to new legislation restrictions. The case is under investigation.

 

DUI

• Orlando Ulloa Cabral, 31, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1000 block of North Pearl Street at approximately 12:50 a.m. on June 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

• Pedro P. Gomez Mendez, 47, of Centralia, was arrested in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at 11:30 a.m. on June 25 and was booked into Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence after he was involved in a collision in which the truck he was driving backed into a coffee stand three times and struck a fence.

 

Malicious Mischief

• At 7:45 p.m. on June 24, there was a report of someone throwing a rock at a passing vehicle in the 2000 block of Borst Avenue and striking the windshield. The case is pending additional information.

• Graffiti to a sign and a building in the 200 block of East Summa Street was reported just before 7:30 a.m. on June 25.

 

Theft

• A Centralia man reportedly stole a watermelon from a business in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just before 7:50 p.m. on June 24.

• A bicycle was reported stolen from the front of a business in the 1200 block of Mellen Street just before 3 a.m. on June 26.

• “Small property items” were reported stolen from a residence in the 400 block of West Sixth Street just after 10:15 a.m. on June 26.

 

Eluding

• Centralia patrols attempted to stop a vehicle that had fled from Napavine police as well as the Thurston County Sheriff’s Office in the 400 block of North Tower Avenue just after 1:45 a.m. on June 25. The vehicle failed to stop for officers and the stop was terminated due to new legislation criteria for pursuits.

 

Assault

• A Vancouver man was arrested in the 1300 block of Belmont Avenue at 10:50 a.m. on June 25 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged fourth-degree assault, domestic violence.

 

Trespassing

• A Centralia man was referred to the prosecutor’s office for possible trespassing charges after he allegedly entered a store he was trespassed from in the 500 block of South Tower Avenue just after 1:55 p.m. on June 25.

 

Recovered Stolen Vehicle

• A Centralia man was arrested in the 1500 block of Kresky Avenue just after 5:25 a.m. on June 27 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for alleged possession of a stolen vehicle. During the same incident, a Chehalis man was arrested and was booked into the jail on an outstanding felony warrant.



 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Retail Theft

• Attempted shoplifting was reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at 1:15 p.m. on June 24.

• A woman was arrested in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 5:50 p.m. on June 24 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail after she allegedly tried to steal a cart full of items from a business.

• A woman was cited for shoplifting in the 1700 block of North National Avenue at 4:05 p.m. on June 26.

 

Vehicle Theft

• A black 1997 Honda Civic was reported stolen from the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue in Centralia at 8:15 p.m. on June 24.

• An attempted vehicle theft was reported in the 300 block of Southeast Washington Avenue just before 2:15 p.m. on June 26.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• A possible vehicle prowl was reported in the 1000 block of Northwest Maryland Avenue just before 4:25 p.m. on June 26.

 

Assault

• A case of fourth-degree assault that was reported in the 300 block of West Main Street just after 2:30 p.m. on June 24 is under investigation.

• A case of fourth-degree assault that was reported in the 1400 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 4:40 p.m. on June 25 is under investigation.

 

Shot With Water Gun 

• Two juveniles reportedly “shot water from a squirt gun” at a vehicle at the intersection of Southwest Chehalis Avenue and Southwest Lewis Street just before 9:25 p.m. on June 25.

 

Harassment

• A case of harassment that was reported in the 600 block of Northwest Center Street at 11 a.m. on June 26 is under investigation.

 

Malicious Mischief

• At approximately 11:05 a.m. on June 26, a caller in the 1600 block of Southwest Aust Manor Drive reported someone spray painted his car sometime overnight.

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Monday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 145 inmates, including 128 in the general population and 17 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 103 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 15 were reported male and two were reported female.
