Sirens: Man with illegal firearm tries to destroy meth pipe; stolen groceries suspects arrested; man pleads guilty to rape, child molestation charges

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Assault

• An assault reported in the 1000 block of Southwest 20th Street at approximately 11:20 a.m. on Oct. 30 is under investigation.

 

Drug violation

• A drug violation reported in the 300 block of North Market Boulevard just after 12:10 p.m. on Oct. 30 is under investigation.

 

Vehicle accidents

• A non-injury, multiple-vehicle accident was reported at the intersection of Northwest Louisiana Avenue and state Route 6 at approximately 1:35 p.m. on Oct. 30.

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision reported in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 2:25 p.m. on Oct. 31 is under investigation.

 

Fraud

• A customer reportedly tried to pass a counterfeit bill at a business in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue just after 3 p.m. on Oct. 31.

 

Disputes

• A verbal dispute was reported in the 600 block of West Main Street just before 4:20 p.m. on Oct. 31.

• A possible verbal dispute was reported in the 100 block of Southwest Interstate Avenue at 6:15 p.m. on Oct. 31.

 

Theft

• A suspect was arrested for trying to steal a vehicle from the 10 block of West Main Street just after 6:20 p.m. on Oct. 31.

 

Criminal trespass

• A man and a woman who were reportedly going through a business’s dumpsters in the 400 block of Northwest Chehalis Avenue just before 5:25 p.m. were trespassed from the business.

• A man who was reportedly hiding in a bush after he was told to leave a business in the 1900 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue at approximately 11:30 p.m. on Oct. 30 was trespassed from the business.

• A woman who was found in a business’ bathroom in the 1500 block of Rice Road just after 6:10 a.m. on Oct. 31 after she possibly slept there overnight was cited for trespassing.

 

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Unlawful firearm possession

• Ronald A. Yeager, 34, of Chehalis, was arrested for first-degree unlawful possession of a firearm, possession of drug paraphernalia, tampering with evidence and making/having burglary tools after officers contacted him in his vehicle at the intersection of Marsh Avenue and Mellen Street at approximately 8:30 a.m. on Oct. 30. When Yeager saw the officers, he allegedly attempted to destroy a meth pipe he was using and tried to flee on foot. “Ronald was quickly apprehended,” the Centralia Police Department said in a news release. Officers reportedly found a .22 rifle in Yeager’s vehicle and found “shaved/altered keys, frequently used to steal vehicles,” in his possession. Yeager had a preliminary hearing in Lewis County Superior Court on Oct. 31. Bail was set at $10,000. Arraignment is scheduled for Thursday, Nov. 7.

• A 39-year-old Chehalis man was arrested for unlawful possession of a firearm in the 1000 block of Eckerson Road at approximately 1:55 a.m. on Nov. 1.

 

Malicious mischief

• At approximately 10:10 a.m. on Oct. 30, officers received a report of damage to the window of  a business in the 1000 block of West Main Street that occurred in the early morning of the day prior. Surveillance video shows a suspect throwing a rock through the business’s window.



 

Assault

• A juvenile was arrested for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence in the 1200 block of Marion Street just after 10:45 a.m. on Oct. 30.

 

Criminal trespass

• A homeless Yelm man was trespassed from a property in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 12:55 p.m. on Oct. 30 for repeated disorderly conduct over the last several days.

• A Chehalis resident was trespassed from a business in the 900 block of South Scheuber Road for disorderly conduct just before 1:45 a.m. on Oct. 31.

• A 24-year-old Yelm man was arrested for trespassing in the 100 block of South Silver Street just after 11:55 a.m. on Oct. 31.

 

Theft

• A 48-year-old Rochester man and a 42-year-old Centralia woman were arrested for allegedly stealing groceries from a store in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue at approximately 3:05 p.m. on Oct. 30. The suspects were located before they unloaded the stolen groceries from their vehicle. The Rochester woman was additionally arrested for possession of a controlled substance.

• A man and a woman allegedly coordinated to steal shoes and clothing from a business in the 100 block of West High Street just before 3:25 p.m. on Oct. 30. The case is under investigation.

• A package was reported stolen from the 1600 block of Winterwood Drive by a suspect in a dark sedan just before 3 p.m. on Oct. 31.

• A Samsung tablet was reported stolen from an unlocked vehicle in the 400 block of East Summa Street at 5:30 p.m. on Oct. 31.

 

LEWIS COUNTY SUPERIOR COURT

Guilty plea

• Jacob Adam Harris, 36, of Centralia, pleaded guilty Oct. 30 to one count each of second-degree rape, third-degree rape of a child and third-degree child molestation. Sentencing is scheduled for 9 a.m. on Nov. 20.

 

Sentencings

• Joshua Levi Upton, 29, of Lakewood, pleaded guilty Oct. 30 to one count each of second-degree burglary, third-degree theft and attempting to elude a police vehicle. He was sentenced that same day to three months in jail, with credit for 22 days served.

• Luis Alonso Flores, 33, of Winlock, pleaded guilty on Oct. 30 to one count of second-degree assault with a deadly weapon. He was sentenced that same day to 42 months in prison.

 

FIRE AND EMS CALLS

• Between Wednesday morning and Friday morning, Lewis County 911 Communications logged approximately 37 illness-related calls, 13 injury-related calls, 12 fire-related calls, two non-emergency service calls, four vehicle accidents, two hazardous conditions reports, one department assist request, one suicide-related call, one Lifeline medical alert and two other calls.

 

JAIL STATISTICS

• As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 135 inmates, including 122 in the general population and 13 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center (WERC). Of general population inmates, 97 were reported male and 25 were reported female. Of the WERC inmates, 11 were reported male and two were reported female.

• As of Friday morning, the Chehalis Tribal Jail had a total system population of 21 inmates, including nine booked by the Centralia Police Department, nine booked by the state Department of Corrections, one booked by the Tulalip Tribe and two booked by the Lummi Nation.
