Sirens: Man Jumps in Traffic, Challenges Motorists to Fight: Harassment; DUI; Assault

CENTRALIA POLICE DEPARTMENT

Harassment

• A Winlock man was arrested in the 500 block of West Main Street at 8:35 a.m. on May 5 for telephone harassment after allegedly making threats to harm another person. He was released.

 

Theft and Burglary

• Food was reported stolen from a garage in the 800 block of K Street at 10 a.m. on May 5.

• A catalytic converter was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2000 block of Cooks Hill Road just before 10:15 a.m. on May 5.

• A wallet containing “access devices” was reported stolen in the 700 block of Harrison Avenue just after 9:15 p.m. on May 5.

• Merchandise was reported stolen from a business in the 400 block of West Main Street at approximately 10:25 p.m. on May 5.

• A cooler was reported stolen from the 1200 block of Ward Street at approximately 9 p.m. on May 6.

 

Vehicle Prowl

• A wallet was reported stolen from a vehicle in the 600 block of H Street just after 11:20 a.m. on May 5.

• Two Stihl leaf blowers were reported stolen from a vehicle in the 2700 block of Russell Road at 12:15 p.m. on May 6.

 

DUI

• Michelle D. Smith, 50, of Chehalis, was arrested in the 500 block of Harrison Avenue at 10:45 a.m. on May 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for allegedly driving under the influence.

 

Assault

• Thomas C. Pennypacker, 40, of Centralia, was arrested in the 400 block of West Pine Street at 10:55 a.m. on May 5 and was booked into the Lewis County Jail for fourth-degree assault, domestic violence, after he was allegedly involved in a physical altercation with a family member.

 

Recovered Vehicle

• A stolen vehicle from Tacoma was recovered in the 100 block of West High Street at 5 p.m. on May 5. The suspect fled the scene prior to police arrival and was not located. He was additionally referred to Centralia Municipal court for alleged violation of a no contact order.

 

Crash

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision at the intersection of Johnson Road and West Reynolds Avenue was reported at 7:10 p.m. on May 5.

 

Fraud

• Unauthorized transactions from a personal bank account were reported in the 1000 block of Elm Street just after 8:45 p.m. on May 5.

• Fraudulent online account activity reported in the 1700 block of South Gold Street just after 5:30 p.m. on May 6 is under investigation.

 

Graffiti

• Property was reported “damaged by spray paint graffiti” in the 1000 block of South Scheuber Road just after 7 a.m. on May 6.

 



Dumping

• Just after 12:20 p.m. on May 6, trash was reportedly dumped in a receptacle in the 1000 block of West Main Street without permission.

 

Damaged Mirror

• At 2:10 p.m. on May 6, damage to the mirror on a vehicle in the 1100 block of Harrison Avenue was reported.

 

CHEHALIS POLICE DEPARTMENT

Theft

• Just after noon on May 5, a caller reported that someone had stolen their two cats from the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue.

• A third-degree theft reported in the 1000 block of southwest 20th Street just after 3:40 p.m. on May 5 is under investigation.

• Two catalytic converters were reported stolen out of a van in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at approximately 6:35 a.m. on May 6.

• A male suspect was arrested and released after an attempted vehicle prowl was interrupted in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue at approximately 3:25 a.m. on May 7.

 

Crashes

• A non-injury, two-vehicle collision in the 1100 block of South Market Street was reported just after 5:30 p.m. on May 5.

• A vehicle accident with reported injuries that was reported at the intersection of northwest Vine Street and Northwest New York Avenue at 5:50 a.m. on May 6 is under investigation. No additional information was provided.

 

Malicious Mischief

• A case of third-degree malicious mischief reported in the 1500 block of North National Avenue at approximately 10:25 p.m. on May 5 is under investigation.

 

Disorderly Conduct

• At approximately 8:05 p.m. on May 6, a caller in the 1600 block of Northwest Louisiana Avenue reported that they’d been assaulted and their nose was bleeding. No arrests were made.

• At 9:25 p.m. on May 6, a man was reported “beating on” a woman in the 800 block of West Main Street. No arrests were made.

• A male subject in the 10 block of Southwest Chehalis Avenue was reportedly “trying to invite people to a fist fight” by “jumping out to moving traffic, asking if they want to fight” at approximately 11:05 p.m. on May 6.

• A case of disorderly conduct reported in the 800 block of Southwest Willam Avenue just after 11:45 p.m. on May 6 is under investigation.

• A case of disorderly conduct reported in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard just before midnight on May 6 is under investigation.

• At approximately 6:45 a.m. on May 7, a man who possibly had a knife was reportedly “making threats to hurt customers by the checkout stands” at a business in the 1100 block of South Market Boulevard. No arrests were made. 

 

LEWIS COUNTY JAIL STATISTICS

As of Friday morning, the Lewis County Jail had a total system population of 136 inmates, including 115 in the general population and 21 in the Work Ethic and Restitution Center. Of general population inmates, 88 were reported male and 27 were reported female. All WERC inmates were reported male.
